Bella Bali Nanny
Safety

Is it safe to hire a nanny in Bali?

Yes, hiring a nanny in Bali can be safe when you check a few things first: first aid and CPR training, a personal ID, swimming ability, good English, and clear rules for the day. Choose someone who can show you these, and agree the pool rule before anything else.

Below is the checklist we'd use ourselves, and how Bella Bali Nanny answers each point.

What should I check before hiring a nanny in Bali?

  • First aid and CPR. Ask if the nanny has a first aid and CPR certificate. Ours do.
  • Personal ID. Ask to see her personal ID card. Our nannies have one.
  • Swimming. In a villa with a pool, your nanny should be able to swim. Ours can.
  • Language. You need to understand each other easily, especially in an emergency. Our nannies speak fluent English.
  • Clear hours. Agree start and finish times. Our bookings run from 5 to 14 hours a day.
  • A clear role. Know what she will and won't do. Our nannies care for your children and work to your directions. They don't do housework.
  • Breaks and meals. A rested nanny is a better nanny. On long days we ask for one meal and a break of at least 30 minutes.

What questions should I ask the nanny?

  • How long have you been looking after children, and what ages?
  • What would you do if my child had a fall or a fever?
  • How will you send me updates during the day?
  • Are you comfortable with our baby's routine, and with bottles or nappies?

What rules should I agree on the first day?

  • The pool rule. When the kids can swim, who is in the water with them, and that the pool gate or door stays shut otherwise.
  • Naps, snacks, sweets and screen time.
  • Where she can take the kids (playground, beach) and how they'll get there.
  • Allergies, medicines and your emergency contacts, written down.
  • Your phone number, and the villa or hotel address for a taxi or ambulance.

How do I keep kids safe around villa pools?

Pools are a big worry for many parents in Bali, because many villa pools have no fence. Keep doors to the pool closed, use a well-fitting floatie or vest for little swimmers, and make sure an adult is watching whenever children are in or near the water. A nanny who can swim helps a lot, but stay alert yourself when you're home too.

Can I have the same nanny every day?

Yes, and it's one of the best things you can do for little ones. Book well in advance and we'll do our best to keep the same nanny for your whole stay.
